I have no idea where to start for my event or wedding flowers! Help!
This is such a common question and Prim Petal Co. is here to help. We suggest you start off by submitting an enquiry via one of our online forms. We've set these up to break down your possible floral needs into some easy to answer questions, which provide us with the detail we need to start a quote. We also provide an initial consultation, if talking it through is more your thing!
If you are looking to keep things small, you can check out our micro wedding and elopement options.
What's your minimum spend for wedding flowers?
For a bespoke (or custom) wedding quote, we do require a minimum spend of $1500.
Generally, for a wedding, this would cover off standard items like; bouquets and buttonholes a bridal party of up to 8 (including the happy couple!) and one floral item to use at your ceremony (which could be reused at the reception). Please note our delivery/setup fee will vary based on your wedding location.
Work you see on our social media is usually around a $2000+ spend.
If you are looking for bridal party flowers only, please check out our micro wedding and elopement options.
What's your availability like?
We can provide you with our current availability for bookings by request via our enquiry form. At this time, we are accepting wedding or event bookings up until December 2025.
For the rest of 2024 we have limited availability, if you need some last minute floral love for your wedding or event, send us a line to check our availability; hello@primpetal.co.
For Summer and Autumn 2025 get in now, as some dates are booking up (although for January, April & May 2025 we have good availability at present and if you are looking for a date in Winter 2025, well pick any date!)
Ready to chat? Enquire for either bespoke or custom wedding or micro wedding and elopement options.
How far out should I book my wedding flowers?
While Prim Petal Co. can accept bookings as little as 6 weeks out for our elopement and micro wedding packages, the latest we accept requests for custom work, is 3 months out due to the work needed by our team to quote, source and finalise your flowers.
We can book up, so do recommend making an enquiry and securing your date anywhere between 6 & 12 months out. Ideally you should know your wedding party size, venue, ceremony date/time and have an idea of your colours before submitting an enquiry. But if you're stuck, we are more than happy to provide you with suggestions!
Are your flowers real?
Yes absolutely!! We only use fresh flowers for our weddings and events! From time to time we will incorporate dried floral elements but for us, seasonally available fresh flowers are our go to!
Where do you get my flowers from?
Great question! Prim Petal Co. sources from local Australian flowers first, ideally from Victorian growers. As a general rule, will suggest locally available, Aussie grown flowers when working with you and we will generally not buy imported flowers unless absolutely necessary (we may do so, due to a last minute lack of local supply).
Now by locally grown Australian flowers, we don't mean we only use native flowers like banksias... (although they are lovely!) we use flowers of all kinds; dahlias, carnations, roses and more, all grown right here is the land of Oz!
The only exception to this local flowers first policy is orchids, due to the consistent lack of local supply, however orchids are purchased by client request only. If you would like orchids included in your quote, please note this in your enquiry form notes. Please note that orchids are a premium item and will increase the cost of your quote overall.
Can I request specific flowers?
We work within your chosen colour palette, style and theme, rather than to specific flowers. We use the freshest seasonal, locally grown flowers available. If you have a specific floral requirement, we will do our best to source it.
Seasonality plays a role, as we source from Australian growers, so for example we can’t supply peonies for a February wedding or event as the Australian season is October-December.
What we will do, is provide you with the freshest, most beautiful locally available blooms in your selected colour palette!
What’s your policy on sustainability?
As a business reliant on nature, we feel it’s important to support sustainable floristry practices. Some of our sustainability practices are outlined below;
- We have a policy of never using floral foam (also known as oasis) in any of our work. Floral foam is full of chemicals and microplastics and we believe it’s not an essential part of our design toolkit when there are so many other reusable and sustainable options for florists out there. To read more about the nasties in floral foam check out this article from the Sustainable Floristry Network.
- We gather all soft plastics and reuse wherever possible. Any excess soft plastics are saved and returned to one of our suppliers to be recycled into buckets!
- All our mechanics and vessels are reusable.
- We offer flower pack up service which dismantles your event florals into posies for your guests to take home and enjoy.
- Any floral or foliage not suited to use or repurpose is composted via green waste collection.
- By sourcing local flowers, we are reducing flower milage and we offer zoom consultations to reduce the kilometres we travel as part of the consultation process.
Like everyone we are learning everyday more ways to be sustainable so are always open to learning from others and improving our practices!
Do you offer hanging floral installations?
At this stage Prim Petal Co. does not offer hanging floral installations, we will secure flowers to existing structures at your event space providing the venue is happy for us to do so (exposed beams, arches, doors etc) or bring in our own towers or vessels to create a lush floral space.
Will you do just my bridal bouquet?
Unfortunately, we don’t offer just bridal bouquets on their own, as we order all flowers in bulk and fresh to fill the needs of a wedding or event. If this is the only item you are after, then Prim Petal Co. is not the florist for you. We do absolutely offer your bridal bouquet as part of a bespoke or custom wedding or in one of our micro wedding and elopement options.
